Episode Context

Following Episode 15's focus on strategic conflict and battlefield maneuvering, 'Skies Over Tokyo' represents a deliberate narrative detour that repositions the central characters and broadens the series' scope heading into the back half of the first third of its run. The shift in setting carries significant implications for where the story is headed, directly paving the way for Episode 17, 'The People of Upper Earth,' which suggests the world-expansion begun here will deepen further.
