Episode Context

Landing exactly at the halfway mark of the 50-episode run, this episode signals a meaningful tonal shift following Astro Boy's environmentally focused adventure in 'If I Could Shed a Tear / Deep City.' The introduction of the Blue Knight is a pivotal development, this character plants seeds around robot autonomy and rights that will grow in significance as the series progresses. The episode ahead, 'Higeoyaji, the Famous Detective / Old Dog, New Tricks,' pivots to detective-driven storytelling, but the Blue Knight's arrival here is the moment the season's larger thematic ambitions start to crystallize.
