This series is based on a tactical JRPG from the 90s that I played. This first episode introduces you to "Elc" the bounty hunter and his two partners. While the episode starts off as a slow burn it quickly escalates into a more typical action-based anime. Decent, but not great.

Episode Context

As the first of twenty-six episodes, 'The Boy with Flame' is pure foundation, introducing Elk, Lieza, and the core thematic tensions between technology, magic, and shadowy institutional power that will drive the series. There are no prior episodes to build on, so the premiere shoulders all the worldbuilding and character establishment. The next episode, 'Beginning of the Destiny,' picks up the threads planted here and begins deepening the mysteries surrounding Elk's past and his evolving quest.
