Synopsis
Every day, a young girl wearing a mask stands by the beach and sings a nostalgic melody. After experiencing two sudden heart-wrenching partings when she was only a child, Nino Arisugawa has been singing her songs to the ocean, bound by a promise made with her two childhood friends—her first love, Momo Sakaki, and a boy who composed music, Kanade "Yuzu" Yuzuriha. Having never met each other, the boys both individually promised that if Nino was ever separated from them, her voice would be the beacon to reunite them once again. After six long years, destiny has finally placed Nino, Momo, and Yuzu in the same high school. However, the passage of time has changed many things in their lives—while Nino relentlessly attempts to fulfill her childhood promise with the boys, Yuzu's feelings for her from the past resurface, and Momo goes to great lengths to prevent a reunion with Nino. Through music, will they be able to mend their friendship and overcome all the feelings involved in this complicated love triangle?

This time the performance definitely stepped it up, bringing a way wilder and better energy to the stage. They finally captured that raw, explosive power you expect from a real rock band. I will never regret watching my first musical anime, and I am definitely going to try watching more of them now.
Well, the stakes and the pressure both before and during the performance were way up, but the performance itself felt just like the first one. There really was not much of a difference. I honestly expected it to be much better and far more exciting than their previous one, so it fell a bit flat for me.
The creators did a fantastic job of giving us a little breather right before the major showdown, which was the perfect way to break up the tension. With so much riding on the next performance and the emotional stakes being so high, this calmer episode allowed the story to settle naturally.
Everything in this episode is building up perfectly for what is next. The raw emotions, the immense pressure of the upcoming performance, and the messy love triangle are all doing a fantastic job of setting the stage for an epic showdown
The emotional side of things is getting more and more intense. I can't help but feel completely sorry for Yuzu because he is always there for Nino, even though she constantly talks about Momo. I really hope he will be able to tell her his true feelings and not just settle for being a friend.
Yuzu and Sakaki together are pure comedy gold and never fail to deliver a good laugh. On the drama side, the love triangle is getting increasingly messy. The introduction of the new band brings a real sense of danger, which gives the narrative a great push forward and raises the stakes now that they have actual competition.
That celebration right after the performance was absolutely hilarious. Immediately pulling out a calculator to crunch the numbers made me laugh my heart out. It was so nice to get a lighthearted moment like that after all the pressure from the previous episode.
This episode was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. Getting the backstory on why Momo changed added so much depth, and that final performance had me feeling two things at once: terrified that everything was going to fall apart, but completely hyped up by the sheer energy and emotion Nino poured into her singing.
I wonder what really happened to Momo, but I'm completely rooting for Yuzu now. Momo feels like a jerk, while Yuzu is the one who truly cares for Nino. Also, the heavy metal approach to the music in this episode was absolutely badass, and I'm so excited to see where it takes the band.
This episode definitely solidifies the love triangle vibe, and the emotional weight here easily clears the first two episodes. Yuzu is a fantastic character who adds so much depth to the narrative. It really makes you think that if Momo finally returns, how is that going to shake up the entire story?
I love that the music is directly tied to the narrative of searching for an old friend. Building the musical elements around that quest gives every performance a deeper, more emotional weight.
Being new to this genre of anime, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. However, the first thing that jumped out at me was the character design, everyone looks incredibly cool, and their aesthetic fits the whole band vibe perfectly.
