Ane Yome Quartet
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When parents on both sides of a household quietly arrange an engagement before skipping the country, all the setup chaos needs is a single secret — and that's the premise of Ane Yome Quartet, a 2-episode OVA from 2015 based on a Candy Soft visual novel. Kouki Hidaka has grown up alongside the four Hanabishi sisters — Yurina, Momone, Saori, and Anzu — basically treated as family his whole life. Then the parents on both sides pack up for a long overseas business trip and leave Kouki in charge of looking after the sisters. What they forgot to mention is that they've already decided one of the sisters should become his fiancée. Nobody told the sisters. Nobody told Kouki. Cue the chaos. Each sister has a distinct personality, so if you're the type who gravitates toward one character archetype in these setups, there's probably someone here who fits. The visual novel source gives the characters more backstory than you'd expect from something this short, and that comes through in how they interact with Kouki rather than just existing around him. If you've watched Kanojo x Kanojo x Kanojo or Imouto Paradise and liked the multi-heroine dynamic, this covers similar ground with a slightly more grounded neighborhood setting. It's a lighthearted premise that doesn't take itself seriously, which is exactly what it should be. Two episodes means it moves fast, so there's no buildup that drags.
