EPISODE CONTEXT
As episode one of only three in this short OVA series, 'Super Mario Momotarou' establishes the entire creative premise: classic Japanese fairy tales retold through the Super Mario cast. There's no prior episode to build from — this is the proof of concept. It directly sets up the format for the following episode, 'Super Mario Issun-boushi,' which continues the fairy tale adaptation approach with a different traditional story.
