Ajin: Demi-Human Movie 1: Compel

We can feel the dark and intense tone right from the beginning. It sets up my mood for the whole film. The animation is unique. It uses a distinct style that really fits the tension of the scenes. The pace is frantic and keeps you guessing at every turn. This actually never gives you a chance to catch your breath. I felt a constant sense of dread and suspense. And this is what that makes it worth watching.

The animation style, especially the characters' movements, isn't really my prefered style, but some of the fight scenes were exciting to watch and felt very realistic. Some of the movie's logic could have been better, but overall it exceeded my expectations and kept me fully engaged. I must say that the main character's mindset is interesting and quite different from what I usually see in anime nowadays. Had a great time watching this movie!

The movie is fast paced thriller, really compressed the whole thing in a movie. It also skipped the deep lore for straight action imo. It focused on basic history without digging into why Ajin even exist in the first place. The storyline is pretty cool that I didn't realized that almost 2 hrs have passed and that's the ending??? but the stiff animation particularly when characters talk was kinda distracting. But ngl, I suprisingly like that it left me with tons of questions like what happen to Kai, wth is up with Eri's attitude toward Kei, what is Kei actual deal, etc.? It definitely hooks me to keep watching to find out what happens next.

This movie was a simple and mysterious moment for me, Kei was the character at first you will not like him but at the end you will learn the good things on him.

I absolutely loved the gritty atmosphere in Compel. The raw panic when Kei first discovers what he is feels so incredibly real, and Satou steals every single scene he is in with that chilling, calm demeanor. It is an intense, dark ride that hooks you immediately
