Advancer Tina
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Serving a 2,000-year prison sentence for blowing up a planet, Tina Owens tells you pretty much everything you need to know about herself just by existing. It's the year 3113, Earth is a polluted ruin, and humanity has scattered across the stars. The Domestic Union of Arms sends elite scouts called Advancers to check out new planets, but something on Omega 13 keeps killing them off, one by one. Nobody knows what. Nobody's come back to explain. So the DUA does what desperate organizations always do — they find the most dangerous, least cooperative person available and offer her a deal she probably shouldn't take. Tina takes it anyway. The setup is very much in the vein of Lily C.A.T. or early sci-fi horror OVAs where one person gets dropped into an unknown environment and things go sideways fast. If you've seen Urotsukidōji and wondered what that energy looks like in a space exploration context, this sits in similar territory — it's a 1996 Arms production, so the cyberpunk aesthetic is doing a lot of heavy lifting, and the Blade Runner-ish world-building gives it more texture than you'd expect from a single-episode OVA. Tina herself is genuinely interesting as protagonists go — morally complicated, clearly capable, and not particularly interested in being heroic about any of this. It's one episode, it moves fast, and it doesn't overstay its welcome.
