Branch 09 follows the critical tension spike of Branch 08 and serves as a decisive turning point in the back half of the season. Kakeru's resolve crystallizes here, setting the emotional and narrative foundation for the climactic escalation in Branch 10 and the final stretch toward episode thirteen. This is the hinge episode, what came before built to this, and what follows depends on it.
