Episode Context

Episode 1 is a high-pressure transition episode that turns the aftermath of Team Japan's Germany match into a new internal conflict. The tone is urgent and competitive rather than celebratory: the team has reached the World Cup final, but injuries and limited time leave the lineup uncertain. Ryoma Echizen, Shusuke Fuji, Keigo Atobe, Yuushi Oshitari, Kuranosuke Shiraishi, Kintaro Toyama, Shuji Tanegashima, Kazuya Tokugawa, Kanata Irie, and Ryuji Oomagari are among the credited players. Pacing emphasizes a major announcement, the emotional shift from teammates to potential opponents, and the structure of the upcoming selection event. Pride, readiness, and the cost of earning a place in the final drive the episode. It functions as a tense kickoff for a selection tournament that determines who represents Japan against Spain.
