The narrator is seriously giving me a sense of dread 😆 But anyway, I liked the pacing here. It focused more on gradually introducing and exploring the arc rather than jumping straight into fights. It was all about building anticipation for whatever chaos is coming next. I’m nervous, but I seriously can’t stop watching because it’s too intriguing.

The story is progressing smoothly and becoming even more interesting. The atmosphere of this episode leaned more into discovery, since the arc is still in its introduction phase. It was lore-heavy and packed with details that feel very important to the overall story.

This episode is giving me really bad vibes. I don’t know if it’s because of the slower pacing or because things are genuinely about to get dark, lol. The overall atmosphere already feels much heavier and more unsettling compared to the previous arcs. Now I’m both interested and anxious about what’s going to happen next.

Episode Context

Hunter x Hunter shifts into genuinely unsettling territory here. Episode 78 leans hard into biological horror, focusing on the escalating threat of the Chimera Ant Queen as her colony grows at an alarming rate. The tone is deliberately ominous, this isn't an action-heavy episode but rather a slow-building exercise in dread. Gon, Killua, and Kite remain on the periphery of a danger they're only beginning to comprehend, and that gap between what the audience sees and what the protagonists know creates real tension. Madhouse's direction emphasizes the grotesque and alien nature of the Ants' evolution, making the threat feel visceral rather than abstract. Expect methodical pacing, world-building that rewards patience, and an atmosphere that signals this arc is about to become something far darker than anything Hunter x Hunter has attempted before.
