Gon’s passed out this episode. The examiner recaps what happened. Weird how every fight ends with whispering or talking to force a forfeit and it kinda boring. But Gon became furious when he learns about Killua and his brother Illumi.

I did not see that twist coming. My jaw dropped. It completely recontextualizes everything we’ve learned about one of the main characters. If you skip this, you’re ruining the whole arc. Stop what you’re doing and watch this right now.

This felt like a strong aftermath of the Final Phase. It was twisted, chilling, and unpredictable. I really enjoyed this episode, and the story is getting even more intriguing.

Episode Context

The Hunter Exam reaches a psychological breaking point. After episodes of physical trials and brutal combat, this installment strips the action back and turns inward, forcing characters to confront who they really are. Gon, Killua, and Illumi take center stage in a tense, dialogue-driven episode that explores identity, family obligation, and the invisible chains people carry. The pacing is deliberately slow, letting each revelation land with full emotional weight. Madhouse leans into close-ups and silence, creating an atmosphere thick with unease. This is Hunter x Hunter at its most cerebral, the kind of episode where a conversation can hit harder than any fight sequence. Expect moral ambiguity, shifting loyalties, and the unsettling realization that passing an exam might cost more than failing one.
