Episode Context

A tense, suspense-driven opener that wastes no time establishing high stakes. The mood is heavy with dread and determination as Kurapika, Gon, Killua, and Leorio reckon with the looming threat of the Phantom Troupe. Deception sits at the heart of this episode, nothing is quite what it seems, and the characters must navigate both external danger and internal resolve. Expect deliberate pacing that balances quiet, character-focused moments of introspection with tactical discussion, building pressure rather than releasing it. The bonds between the four friends are tested and reaffirmed here, making this as much an emotional episode as a strategic one. It sets a brooding, purposeful tone that signals the OVA is playing for keeps from the first frame.
