Episode Context

A politically charged standalone that trades supernatural dread for something more grounded, the quiet devastation of obsession. This episode zeroes in on Yuriko and her father's consuming political crusade, using the campaign trail as a lens to examine how righteous causes can quietly hollow out the people closest to them. Harumi bears the unseen weight of keeping everything functional while the household frays. The pacing is slow-burn and deliberate, building tension through domestic suffocation rather than overt horror. Expect moral ambiguity over clear villains, and a tone closer to tragedy than terror. Hell Girl's core framework is here, resentment, desperation, the temptation of the straw doll, but filtered through the machinery of political ambition and its collateral damage.
