Synopsis
Despite being a vampire, Kokoro Yamihara has never once attacked a human. She lives quietly in a small town, keeps to herself, and has been dating a well-liked local man named Toramatsu for about a year. Neither of them knows the other's secret. That setup alone is worth paying attention to — two people genuinely caring about each other while sitting on information that could blow everything apart. Then a body turns up drained of blood, just like the unsolved murders from five years ago, and suddenly their quiet life has a clock on it. The romance and the mystery are tangled together from the start, which keeps both threads feeling urgent. This isn't a show where the vampire stuff is just window dressing on a love story, or where the romance is a footnote in a thriller — the two are genuinely dependent on each other. If you liked the slow-burn tension of Brynhildr in the Darkness or appreciated how The Detective Is Already Dead layered hidden backstories into its central relationship, this one scratches a similar itch. The tone is grounded and character-focused rather than action-heavy, so if you need constant fight scenes, adjust your expectations. But if you like watching two people circle an inevitable confrontation with their secrets while a murder investigation closes in around them, this is worth your time.
