Yokorenbo: Immoral Mother
Oshimeter
Synopsis
After her husband's death, Junko spends ten years raising her son Ryouichi alone, and the story opens with her doing something she absolutely should not be doing while he sleeps. That's the setup, and the OVA doesn't shy away from where that leads. Two years later, Junko remarries, and Ryouichi is now living under the same roof with a stepfather and a new stepsister, trying to navigate what feels like a completely different family. Then one night he sees something he wasn't supposed to see, and everything he thought he'd buried comes rushing back. The two-episode runtime keeps things tight — this isn't a slow burn, it moves quickly through the domestic tension and gets into the psychological messiness of desire, guilt, and complicated family dynamics without a lot of detours. The character writing leans into the moral ambiguity rather than glossing over it, which gives it a bit more weight than you'd expect from the genre. If you've seen Taboo Charming Mother or Oni Chichi, you already know the general territory — forbidden relationships inside a family unit, characters who are aware on some level that what they're doing is wrong and do it anyway. Yokorenbo sits comfortably in that same space but keeps its focus narrow and character-driven. It's a short watch from Suzuki Mirano, adapted from a visual novel, and it does exactly what it sets out to do without overstaying its welcome.
