Yama Hime no Mi
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When high school student Kazuya stumbles across explicit photos online that look uncomfortably like his own mother, he sets the stage for something deeply unsettling. That's the setup for Yama Hime no Mi, a 3-episode OVA from 2007 based on Sanbun Kyouden's manga, and it doesn't try to be anything other than what it is. The first two episodes follow Kazuya as he spirals into suspicion and investigation, trying to reconcile the woman raising him with what he thinks he's found. It's uncomfortable in a way that feels intentional — less about shock value and more about the psychological weight of uncovering something you can't unsee. The third episode switches to a completely different pair of characters, Masaru and his mother Sawako, which gives the OVA a short-story anthology feel rather than one dragging premise. The art style leans mature and grounded, which actually helps the dramatic tension land better than you'd expect from the genre. If you've watched Oni Chichi or Haha Sange and wanted something with a bit more narrative structure and emotional weight behind the scenarios, this sits in that same space. It's also closer in tone to Ane wa Yanmama Junyuu-chuu in terms of pacing — slow-burn buildup rather than immediate escalation. Three episodes, two separate stories, one very specific niche. You already know if this is for you.
