World End Economica

On the Moon, a teenager with no home survives by living in internet cafes and day-trading stocks. That's the setup for World End Economica, and it's way more compelling than it has any right to be. Haru is part of the first generation born on a lunar colony, and he's got one goal: claw his way into the elite center of Lunar City. His only tools are a sharp instinct for the market and a thousand mools of seed money, which he's already turned into seventy-two thousand through sheer stubbornness and skill. After nearly getting caught by authorities, he ends up hiding out in a church run by a woman named Risa, where he meets Hagana — a quiet, borderline antisocial girl who happens to be a math genius. Naturally, he ropes her into a stock trading competition. This is a movie based on the visual novel by Isuna Hasekura, the same author behind Spice and Wolf, so if you liked the way that series wove economics into its storytelling without making it feel like a lecture, this hits similar notes but in a sci-fi setting. The romance is slow-burn and the tone leans more contemplative than action-heavy — closer to the pacing of Steins;Gate's quieter character moments than anything explosive. It's a story about ambition, loneliness, and whether money can actually buy you the life you want when you're a kid with nothing on a rock in space.
