Wife with Wife
Oshimeter
Synopsis
When his father passes away, Kotaro inherits responsibility for the family's small grocery store and, with the help of his mother-in-law Nagisha and his sister Nagisa, tries to keep the place from falling apart. It's a quiet, grounded setup — a family holding onto something meaningful in a town where big money is starting to move in. The conflict kicks in when a large supermarket chain, Kaneyu, starts pressuring Kotaro to hand over the shop. That alone would make for decent drama, but then it turns out the corporate rep pushing hardest is his estranged brother — the one who walked away from the family business years ago and never looked back. That's a lot of weight packed into a 2-episode OVA. The story leans into the tension between personal loyalty and ambition, and the small-town setting gives everything a lived-in, familiar feel rather than something glossy or disconnected from reality. The family dynamics are specific enough to feel real — these aren't just types, they're people with history. If you appreciated the family-centered storytelling in something like Musume Tsuma Haha or the relationship layering in Tsuma No Kokoro, this hits a similar note. It's a short watch from 2005, based on a visual novel, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. Two episodes, one family, and a conflict that's as much about old wounds as it is about business.
