Synopsis

At her high school's opening ceremony, Himari Kino hears Yori Asanagi sing with the school band SSGIRLS. That's it — she's done for. She tracks Yori down and tells her she loves her, except Himari means it more like "your music changed my life" and Yori, who has zero experience with romance, takes it as an actual love confession. That misunderstanding is the whole engine of this 12-episode TV series, and it works because both characters are genuinely trying to figure out what they feel rather than just stumbling through anime miscommunication tropes. Yori starts questioning her own emotions through her music, and Himari slowly realizes her admiration might be something deeper than she thought. The pacing is gentle — this isn't a drama that throws constant conflict at you. It's more like watching two people orbit each other while sorting through feelings they don't have words for yet. The music elements give the show a nice emotional anchor, with Yori's songwriting reflecting her internal growth in ways that feel earned rather than heavy-handed. If you liked the slow emotional unraveling in Bloom Into You or the quiet awkwardness of Adachi and Shimamura, this hits a similar frequency. It's also got some of the earnest warmth of Kase-san and Morning Glories, just stretched into a fuller narrative. The tone stays youthful and emotionally honest without getting melodramatic, which is harder to pull off than it sounds.
