📖 SYNOPSIS

"Void" depicts a closed society where idols are manufactured as numerical expressions of the populace. These idols are not unique individuals, but rather endless replications of the original data. This process of constant replication leads to a gradual loss of individuality among the idol figures. Despite their origins as mere data, the idols begin to experience the emergence of emotional impulses, a phenomenon not accounted for in their creation. The animation, a 2017 work from the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation, explores the tension between programmed existence and the unpredictable nature of human emotion within a controlled environment. The core thematic focus is on the struggle for identity and the unexpected consequences of technological replication.
