Uso Tantei Tomanto

Synopsis
On the quiet, sunny streets of Vegitown, a kindhearted tomato cracks cases using vegetable trivia. That's the premise, and it works way better than it has any right to. Set in Vegitown, this TV series follows Tomanto, a kindhearted tomato with a knack for spotting lies, who stumbles into detective work alongside Pucchi, a cherry tomato with a wildly inflated sense of her own abilities, and Nasunbo, an eggplant police inspector who'd clearly rather be napping. Together they unravel small-scale mysteries around town, and the actual clues tie into real facts about fruits and vegetables — so you end up accidentally learning things while watching a cartoon tomato interrogate suspects. The episodes are short enough to knock out during a commute, which makes the 26-episode run easy to get through without any commitment anxiety. The tone is gentle and a little mysterious, closer to the cozy vibe of Sumikko Gurashi than anything intense, but the detective plots have more structure than you'd expect. If you liked the quirky world-building of Yo-kai Watch Shadowside or the oddball mystery energy of Nightwalker: The Midnight Detective, this scratches a similar itch in a much more relaxed package. It's anthropomorphic fruit characters solving crimes — you already know whether that sounds appealing to you. Produced by Fanworks, it leans into its absurd concept with a straight face, and that commitment is what makes the whole thing charming rather than gimmicky.
