Urotsukidoji IV: Inferno Road

In any recognizable form, the world is already gone. Amano Jyaku and a handful of survivors are rolling through a post-apocalyptic wasteland in a futuristic tank, headed toward Osaka to confront the Overfiend and whatever fate has waiting for them. It's bleak from the jump, and it only gets stranger. Before they even reach their destination, they stumble into a civilization where children have seized control and adults live under their thumb, ruled by a sinister figure named Ellis. It's the kind of unsettling premise that sits with you, and the show leans into the discomfort hard. This is a direct continuation of the Urotsukidoji series, so if you're jumping in here, you'll want the earlier entries for context — this picks up immediately after the third installment. As a 3-episode OVA from 1993, it has that raw, detailed aesthetic that defined darker anime of that era. If you've seen La Blue Girl or Wicked City and appreciated how they blended mythology with genuinely disturbing horror, this operates in similar territory. Demon Beast Invasion fans will also recognize the tone. It's not subtle, and it's not trying to be. The Hentai label means exactly what you think, but underneath that is a mythology-heavy narrative with a dark fantasy backbone that the series has always built around. Go in knowing what it is.
