Synopsis
Two tsundere princesses struggling with their feelings toward the same knight who keeps saving the kingdom — that's the setup for Tsunpri, a single-episode OVA from 2015 that plays in medieval fantasy territory with a distinctly romantic focus. The story splits into two segments. First, Princess Diana has to personally reward a knight for protecting the royal family, which puts her in an awkward position given her proud, guarded personality. Then Princess Reiana, after surviving a brutal battle where that same knight risked everything for her, goes to visit him herself. Both women carry that classic tsundere tension — the kind where feelings are real but admitting them feels impossible. The medieval court setting gives it a slightly grounded atmosphere compared to the usual fantasy backdrop, and the two-part structure lets each princess breathe a little rather than cramming everything into one rushed encounter. If you watched Princess Lover! and wanted something more intimate and character-driven rather than harem-focused, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of Yosuga no Sora's approach to pairing drama in separate story threads will also recognize the structure here. It is a short, contained story — one episode, no ongoing commitments — adapted from a light novel and leaning into the royal dynamics and gratitude-turning-into-something-deeper angle. Worth an evening if the tsundere archetype and fantasy royalty setting are things that genuinely interest you.
