📖 SYNOPSIS

After being pulled into a fantasy world to serve as a hero, Makoto Misumi has the goddess take one look at him, decide he's too ugly, and dump him in the middle of nowhere. That's his origin story. Instead of moping about it, Makoto discovers he has absurd magical power — including a unique Moon Magic system — and starts collecting followers who are honestly more interesting than most isekai protagonists. Tomoe, a powerful dragon who takes human form and talks like a samurai, and Mio, a terrifying spider monster turned devoted companion, are the kind of non-human characters who actually get real development instead of just being window dressing. Together they build a settlement where different races live together, which naturally starts making waves with the people already in charge. The third season picks up with Makoto's growing influence putting him on a collision course with the political powers of this world, both human and divine. The show does a good job switching between genuine action sequences and comedy that actually lands, which keeps the pacing from dragging. If you liked That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime's nation-building angle or the rejected-hero setup from Arifureta, this hits similar notes but with its own identity. It's also got a bit of the "ordinary person vs. an entire world's power structure" energy that makes Re:Zero compelling, just with a lighter touch. Worth catching up on if you haven't already.
