Touhou Mystia's Izakaya: The Animation
Oshimeter
Synopsis
In the heart of Gensokyo, a land where humans and supernatural beings coexist in an uneasy balance, a night sparrow yokai named Mystia Lorelei runs a tiny izakaya. Her solution to centuries of tension between species? Good food and cold drinks. This ONA, adapted from the Touhou fan game of the same name, follows Mystia as she cooks up dishes for a rotating cast of customers — shrine maidens, magicians, fairies, and ordinary humans who somehow wandered in. Reimu Hakurei shows up hungry and broke, Marisa Kirisame drops by looking for trouble and snacks, and each episode revolves around Mystia figuring out what to serve them and why it matters. The cooking scenes are genuinely detailed, and the little moments of connection over a shared meal carry more emotional weight than you'd expect from a show about a bird girl running a bar. The vibe is warm and low-stakes, closer to a slice-of-life than anything with real conflict. Think of it as comfort food anime, literally. If you liked the cozy supernatural world-building of Fox Spirit Matchmaker or the charm of Love Between Fairy and Devil but wanted something even more relaxed, this fits that space nicely. Fans of A Will Eternal's playful take on fantasy settings will also feel at home here. It's quiet, it's sweet, and it makes you hungry. That's about all it needs to be.
