Tian Wai Zhi Men
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Meet Fan Lingxiao, a spirit pet master — think a martial artist who fights alongside bonded spiritual beasts — and he's pretty good at it. Good enough to compete in an A-level sect promotion competition, anyway. Then his own spirit pet, a massive whale called Kun, eats him. Not in a metaphorical way. The whale literally devours him. He wakes up reincarnated as Liu Fengmang, a young man locked inside a place called the White Mansion, with no idea how he got there or why. Now he's stuck figuring out the rules of this strange new life, piecing together what the White Mansion actually is, and carrying a grudge from a past life he can't let go of. Tian Wai Zhi Men is an ONA set in a world where martial arts cultivation and spirit beast taming overlap in interesting ways. The spirit pet system isn't just window dressing — it actually shapes how fights play out, with different beasts bringing different tactics. The action animation is genuinely sharp, with fluid choreography that holds up across episodes. There's also a solid thread of humor running through it, mostly from the spirit pet interactions, which keeps the tone from getting too self-serious. If you liked Legend of Awakening or The Royal Swordsmen for their mix of martial arts drama and fantasy worldbuilding, this fits right in that lane. Men with Sword fans will also find familiar ground here. It's a solid reincarnation revenge setup with enough personality in its world to stand on its own.
