"Thoughtcrime" is a music video animated by Rabbit MACHINE for Yorushika's song of the same name. The song's theme, inspired by George Orwell's "1984," centers on the concept of thoughtcrime. The video explores the ambiguous relationship between plagiarism and homage, highlighting how the line between the two can shift. Initially presented as plagiarism, the work transforms into a homage. The narrative emphasizes that the distinction between the two is fluid and potentially nonexistent, with homage itself carrying the risk of becoming plagiarism. The lyrics of the song also pay homage to the haiku of Ozaki Hosai and his final years.
