The Rapeman
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Moonlighting as a masked vigilante-for-hire who commits sexual assault as a form of 'justice,' while also working as a PE teacher, is the actual premise of this 1994 OVA, and no, it doesn't get less disturbing the more you think about it. Keisuke Iwasaki runs 'Rapeman Services' with his uncle — a former surgeon with Yakuza ties — taking on clients who want revenge on cheating partners, family problems solved, or personal grievances settled in the most extreme way imaginable. The series frames this through a dark comedy lens, blending crime and vigilante action in ways that are genuinely hard to categorize. It's provocative in the most literal sense: it will provoke a strong reaction, and probably not the one the creators intended. If you've already sat through the brutal nihilism of Violence Jack or the disturbing content in Angel of Darkness, you have a rough idea of the territory here. Like those titles, this is a product of a specific era in Japanese adult animation where transgressive content was often mistaken for depth. Two episodes, sourced from a manga, produced by TEC. It exists, it has an audience, and it raises uncomfortable questions about what counts as narrative justice. Going in with clear expectations about what this actually is — rather than what the 'dark comedy vigilante' framing suggests — is the only honest way to approach it.
