Episode 1 is a mixed bag. The premise is interesting, and there are moments of genuine charm in Ard's awkward attempts to connect with people. But the writing relies on uncomfortable tropes, the pacing is uneven, and the episode doesn't give its female lead enough personality to make the central friendship feel earned. The last-minute time skip also makes the whole episode feel like a prologue rather than a satisfying standalone story.
It's not offensively bad. It's just aggressively average. If you're a diehard fan of overpowered protagonist fantasies and you've already watched everything else in the genre, this might be worth a look. Otherwise, there are better shows that do the same thing with more heart and better writing.
