Okay real talk - *TBATE Season 2* pisses me off because I WANT to love it so bad. Season 1 was mid, we all know it. But I kept watching because Arthur as a character actually has potential. He's not your generic "I got hit by a truck and now I'm God" loser. Dude was a KING who died alone and miserable and now he's trying again as a kid. That loneliness hits different. When the show actually remembers that, it's so good. Season 2? Story-wise, it's better. Arthur feels more like a person this season, not just a walking power fantasy. The world finally feels like it has some size to it, not just Arthur's backyard. BUT. The adaptation is still doing this story so dirty it's not even funny. The pacing is ATROCIOUS. I'm sorry. It's either crawling at snail speed where nothing happens, or it's sprinting through stuff that actually matters like it has a train to catch. Pick a lane! And the animation... bro. I can't defend it anymore. One second you get a genuinely sick fight that looks fluid and hype, next second it's literally a PowerPoint presentation. Two characters just staring at each other for 3 minutes with a looping background. For a series where the source material art is BEAUTIFUL, this is heartbreaking. The side characters? They try, but most of them still feel like the Arthur Fan Club. Like "wow Arthur you're so amazing!" disappears for 4 episodes. Soundtrack is whatever. It's there. Does its job. I don't remember a single track. Look, I like this show way more than I should. Arthur's journey still has me. That core idea of a lonely king getting a second chance to actually care about people? That carries HARD. That's why I'm still here and why I'll watch Season 3 if they make it. But if you're anime-only and expecting Solo Leveling or Mushoku Tensei quality? Nah. Don't. It's a fantastic story trapped in the cheapest adaptation of the year. I enjoyed it, but I'm mad about it.
