things get more serious as rescuing an escape pod pulls Seina and crew into a revenge mission with real emotional stakes. the person in the pod and the story behind them adds a layer of genuine tragedy to what has mostly been a comedy adventure so far. GXP shows here that it can do pathos when it wants to — the wounded survivor's motivation is understandable and the crew's response says something real about who they've become as a unit. the Kamidake taking serious damage raises the stakes further. a notably more mature episode and stronger for it.
