Victoria of Many Faces
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Make no mistake: Chloe is the most dangerous spy alive, a master of disguise, elite fighter, the person governments send when nobody else can get it done. Then her own boss betrays her, and she decides she's had enough. She fakes her disappearance and reinvents herself as "Victoria," an ordinary citizen in the kingdom of Ashberry, just trying to live a quiet, normal life. Cook meals, go to the market, maybe make some friends. That kind of thing. Except her past isn't done with her, and Ashberry has its own problems that keep dragging her back into exactly the kind of situations she was trying to leave behind. The tension comes from watching someone with a ridiculously stacked skill set trying desperately not to use any of it, and slowly failing. Studio Deen is adapting this from a light novel, and the fantasy setting gives the spy-thriller premise a fresh coat of paint. If you liked Spy x Family's blend of espionage and domestic life, or the "retired killer forced back into action" energy of something like The Elusive Samurai, this one's in that neighborhood. There's also a bit of that Violet Evergarden feeling, someone shaped by conflict learning how to just exist as a person. It's a fantasy TV series coming in 2026, and the premise alone has a lot of runway. Worth keeping on your radar.

So the Hagel assassins just got handled in one episode huh. Impressive honestly. The knights actually being competent without Victoria's help is refreshing. Meanwhile Gerald gets demoted for covering for her and she's halfway across the kingdom naming sheep. Your princess is in another castle indeed
The scene where Nonna asks if she can call her Mother broke me. After everything Victoria went through with Lancome and her own family this little girl just handed her the one thing she never thought she'd have again. Studio Deen really nailed the color palette for Randall too
I keep thinking about that black hair Gerald found in the hidden compartment. He's really going to throw away his entire noble rank over a single strand of evidence that she used dye. The devotion is unmatched. Hope he catches up before the finale
The lamb birth scene made me tear up way more than I expected. Nonna watching in wonder and then later asking about human mothers in labor. Victoria forgiving her own mother through that moment was so subtle and so heavy at the same time. This show keeps surprising me
Seeing Jeffry break down over her letter was heartbreaking I really thought they had more time to figure things out together and now she is just gone
I love how nobody in this show is dumb Edward and Jeffry figuring out she is a runaway agent without any ridiculous misunderstandings is so refreshing
Nonna jumping out the second floor window and rolling on the ground like a seasoned agent was the funniest thing ever She really learned well from Victoria
I think this week's episode was well written as it highlights Victoria's flaws and her growing attachment to Nonna. I assume Nonna in this case is trying to shut down the adoption request by completing the trial. Otherwise, I assume the nobles will be relentless if Victoria just turned them away here.
Watching Nonna pick the evil witch role just so Victoria could be the princess made my heart melt. Then that ending scene ruined all my peace because her old spy organization tracked her down not from her prison break but because she went out on a public date with Jeff. I need the next episode right now
Jeff sitting at dinner reassuring Victoria about breaking laws, right while she is actively running a secret prison break in his city, is the funniest thing this week
Victoria pulling Karl into a sudden fake kiss right as the guard walked by was hilarious and I almost choked on my drink watching that scene
Pulling a wire saw out of a boot heel to cut cell bars over ten days is so grounded and cool compared to magic fixes
El título del animé se desarrolla totalmente en este episodio. Fue entretenido y emocionante. Nonna está creciendo hermosamente y algún día dominará el mundo.
Compared to last week's episode, this week feels much better- like we're back to the regular creative direction. No more weird blurs or washed scenes. It was also really cool to finally see Victoria in action as a spy.
This week's episode felt very weird to watch. The animation felt like it took a hit. Lots of blurry and jittery shots. Hopefully next week is better.
Peak episode. So much happened in this episode from the first date to Jeffrey's backstory. Can't wait to see Victoria and Jeffrey get closer together. I can confidently say that this show will pass anyone's 3 episode test. The animation may not be the best in the business, it is very stable and doesn't detract from the watching experience imo. The voice acting is also superb - you can feel the existing chemistry between Victoria and Nonna (Chika Anzai and Shion Wakayama, aka the LycoReco girls). All three voices are also pleasant on their own. Both the anime opening and ending are a very unique catchy vibe. I can see this being one of my unpolished gems for the season.
