Taboo Charming Mother
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A year into her new marriage, Misako is already struggling. Her husband is distant, her stepson Kazuhiko won't even look at her, and now she's getting creepy phone calls from someone who knows exactly what she did today, where she went, what she wore. She can't tell her husband. She feels completely alone in a house that was never really hers. Enbo is a 6-episode OVA from 2003 that leans hard into that emotional isolation before anything else kicks in. The setup is genuinely unsettling — there's a psychological thriller quality to the early episodes that you don't always expect from this genre. Misako is a well-drawn character, someone caught between trying to do the right thing and slowly unraveling under pressure she has no outlet for. The forbidden attraction angle grows out of that loneliness in a way that feels connected to the story rather than dropped in randomly. The animation holds up for what it is — character expressions actually carry weight, which matters when so much of the drama is internal. It's not flashy, but it's deliberate. If you watched Immoral Sisters and wanted something with a bit more psychological tension woven through it, this scratches that itch. Fans of Mother Knows Breast or Aneimo who appreciate when the drama side is given real attention alongside everything else will find this worth the time. It's a slow burn, emotionally heavier than most, and it commits to that tone throughout.
