I do not support pedophilia in any form but the way this anime has been written, It clearly depicts that mental trauma from childhood can really shape someone's personality in adulthood and not every pedophiliac/groomer necessary has a criminal mindset. Because of the childhood trauma that Haru experienced, and his caretaker identity, it becomes clear when observed carefully that he does not even realize the boundaries he has crossed.
