Summer: Inaka no Seikatsu
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Stuck in his apartment with nothing to do and summer break stretching out ahead of him, he gets a call from an old acquaintance with a simple request: can he look after her daughter, Hazuki, while she and her husband head out on a trip? He figures anything beats staring at his ceiling, so he packs up and heads out to the countryside. What he finds there is a quieter, slower pace of life — and a Hazuki who's grown up considerably since the last time he saw her. That gap between who she was and who she is now becomes the emotional center of this 2-episode OVA from Mousou Senka, based on a visual novel. The rural setting does a lot of the heavy lifting here. It feels genuinely peaceful, a world away from the urban backdrop that most stories like this default to, and the character designs are expressive enough to carry the intimate tone the story is going for. If you've watched something like Boku no Yayoi-san or Aneki no Kounai Kaikinbi and appreciated that blend of reconnection drama with a slower, more grounded atmosphere, this sits comfortably in that same space. It's not trying to be a grand story — it's a short, low-key character piece about two people rediscovering each other in an unlikely setting. Short runtime means it gets to the point without overstaying its welcome.
