Step Up Love Story

Synopsis
When Makoto and Yura Onoda tie the knot at 25, both are completely inexperienced. Neither of them really knows what they're doing, and instead of glossing over that awkwardness, this 4-episode OVA leans into it completely. Yura is shy and gets flustered by basically everything, while Makoto has a very active imagination but zero practical knowledge to back it up. Watching these two adults fumble through the early days of married intimacy is genuinely funny in a way that feels honest rather than mean-spirited. What makes this stand out from the usual ecchi fare is that it actually treats its characters like adults navigating something real. There's no high school setting, no contrived harem nonsense, just two people figuring each other out. The show also sneaks in some surprisingly informative content alongside the comedy, which gives it a slightly educational edge you don't really expect. If you liked Yamada's First Time: B Gata H Kei for its candid and comedic take on sexual inexperience, this covers similar territory but from a married adult perspective, which makes the emotional stakes feel grounded. Fans of To LOVE-Ru Darkness who want something with more character substance and less chaos might find this a refreshing change of pace. It's a short watch, adapted from a long-running manga by Chaos Project, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. The tone stays comedic and warm throughout, never punching down at the characters for not having everything figured out.

The dialogue between Yura and her friends is hilarious, especially since she has no idea how any of this works
The way the show handles Makoto having zero stamina is actually pretty realistic for a couple of virgins
Watching them try to figure out the logistics of everything while being totally clueless made me laugh so hard
Yura not even knowing what an orgasm is makes their wedding night so much more awkward and funny
I feel so bad for Makoto finishing that fast on the first night because he was just way too excited
That moment when it turns into a literal textbook for a second to explain how things work is surprising and made the wedding night scenes much more interesting
Makoto getting so distracted by his own imagination while Yura just sits there being shy and confused about the whole process was so funny
Watching these two struggle with basic intimacy because they are both so naive is actually pretty funny and lighthearted for a show about sex
The focus on communication instead of just mindless fanservice made the romance feel way more genuine to me, and the way they navigated the embarrassment of their first time together was actually pretty charming while those advice segments are a total trip that I did not see coming at all after that opening scene with their wedding photos
Makoto having those wild fantasies while being a total gentleman to Yura in reality is such a funny dynamic to start the series with
The animation is definitely a bit dated but the way they handle the awkwardness of a wedding night felt very grounded despite the ecchi tags
I felt way more invested once they both admitted they were virgins, because most shows pretend everyone knows everything and it made them more relatable
I feel so awkward watching Makoto try to figure out a bra and it is weirdly wholesome how they both have no idea what they are doing
Those educational diagrams were not expected but they actually explained things better than health class and the comedy works
Yura is too pure for this world and watching her get so flustered over every little touch makes the slice of life parts feel really sweet
The instructional segments are bizarre but they make the show stand out from other stuff in this genre and keep things entertaining
