Synopsis

A bright kid on track for a normal academic life, Xu Xinghe's world shatters when he watches an alien entity consume his brother's consciousness right in front of him. Not kill — consume. His brother's body is still there, but everything that made him who he was is just gone. That's the setup for Xing Lu, a 2026 ONA from Cloud Art set in a future where humanity has pushed into space only to encounter UMA — high-dimensional beings from Ganymede that feed on human awareness to evolve. After the attack, Xu Xinghe awakens latent abilities and sets out on what's essentially a rescue mission for his brother's mind, fighting through creatures that don't just threaten your body but erase who you are. The power system here is tied directly to consciousness, which gives the martial arts sequences a weight that goes beyond just punching harder. There's a real sense of dread baked into the premise — if you liked the existential horror of Parasyte or the personal stakes of Attack on Titan, this hits similar notes but filters it through a sci-fi lens that feels closer to Neon Genesis Evangelion's stranger moments. The atmospheric soundtrack does a lot of heavy lifting too, threading tension through quieter scenes. It's not just another alien invasion story.
