Sprite: Between Two Worlds
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Quiet, reserved, the kind of high school girl who keeps her head down and avoids drama — that is Manami Sakumoto, the type who stays out of trouble. Then one day, people start coming up to her furious about things she allegedly said or did. Flirting aggressively with guys, starting catfights, acting completely unhinged. The problem? She has zero memory of any of it. Something underneath the surface is waking up, and it is not shy in the slightest. That split between who she thinks she is and who she apparently becomes when she is not 'herself' is the core of this two-episode OVA from J.C.Staff, based on the manga and produced back in 1997. It sits in that familiar 90s school comedy space — a little romantic, a little ecchi, light enough that you are never really sitting with anything heavy. Her friend Tooru is around to help her piece things together, which gives it a grounded relationship to anchor all the chaos. If you have watched something like Adam's Sweet Agony and enjoyed the mix of comedy with that kind of mischievous edge, this hits a similar note. It is not trying to be anything profound. At two episodes, it is basically a lunch break commitment — a quick, breezy slice of late-90s school romance with a personality-swap twist that keeps things from feeling completely formulaic.
