baboonashrated Sparks of Tomorrow Episode 10 - Engagement Trouble
Episode 10 is essentially a relationship-cleanup installment. Kihachi and Inako finally talk honestly and clear the air from the previous episode’s mutual-sacrifice misunderstanding — a necessary and welcome reset. Once that’s handled, the story pivots almost entirely to Kengo and Noriko, whose engagement is on the rocks because of unresolved feelings and secrets tied to Seiroku. The episode confirms that Noriko and Seiroku shared a romantic connection, and Kengo has been carrying both survivor’s guilt and long-standing unrequited (or complicated) feelings for Noriko since childhood. Kihachi and Inako try to play matchmaker, which leads to some cute but fairly predictable complications. Meanwhile, Yosuke continues digging through the Catalog and makes a meaningful discovery involving a circuit blueprint / “Electric Nishiki,” setting up the final stretch. The biggest criticism from reviewers and fans is timing and focus. With only three episodes remaining, dedicating so much runtime to a secondary couple’s communication issues felt like a stall to many, especially after the series had already spent previous episodes leaning on similar “just talk to each other” conflicts. The animation remains reliable, and the quieter character moments have charm, but the episode doesn’t carry the same urgency or thematic weight as the stronger mid-to-late entries.
