Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter
Oshimeter
Synopsis
In the Forest of Scraps, where discarded things go to rot, an old dragon named Nem is quietly waiting to die. Then a five-year-old human girl named Eve shows up, somehow still alive in a place that eats people for breakfast. Nem decides to raise her. He gets five years with her before his time runs out, and then she's alone. That's the setup for The Skull Dragon's Precious Daughter, a 2027 TV series from Doga Kobo. It's less about sword fights and more about a dragon teaching a kid to survive while he's running out of time. Eve's magic keeps growing in ways she can't control, and Nem's cautious parenting clashes with her curiosity. The warm domestic scenes sit right next to the knowledge that this can't last forever. If you liked Somali and the Forest Spirit, you'll recognize the rhythm here: gentle guardian, dangerous world, kid who doesn't fully understand the stakes. It also scratches a similar itch to The Ancient Magus' Bride, where magic is beautiful and a little unsettling. And if Dragon Goes House-Hunting made you want more dragon domesticity, this goes the other direction and makes it hurt. Tomoya Atsumi handles character designs and Kusanagi does background art, which fits a story that lives or dies on cute kids and lonely forests.
