Shuumatsu Hospital
Oshimeter
Synopsis
At the end of the world, newly transferred hospital nurse Akao Misuzu finds herself in a place where some mysterious illness has pushed society to the edge. Inside, the work is grim: caring for patients who aren't going to make it. Misuzu takes that job seriously, maybe a little too seriously. She offers her patients something beyond standard care, and the mortality rate on her shifts is... notable. Her colleagues are starting to notice, and head nurse Rika Munahama is quietly putting the pieces together. This 2-episode OVA from Nur (2024) leans into the tension between intimacy and mortality, setting its story against a decaying world where the hospital feels like the last warm place left. The ethical weight here is genuinely uncomfortable — Misuzu isn't a villain exactly, but she's operating in a moral grey zone that the show doesn't try to resolve cleanly. It's quieter and more introspective than you'd expect from the premise. Don't go in expecting something lighthearted. The post-apocalyptic backdrop gives it a tone closer to Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou than you might anticipate — melancholy, still, a little haunting. If you've seen World's End Harem or Shuumatsu no Harem and wanted something with a darker atmosphere and less action, this sits in an interesting space. It's short, it's strange, and it commits to its uncomfortable premise without flinching.
