Shoujo Sect

Synopsis
Two things connect Shinobu and Momoko even before the story begins: a childhood kiss on a playground and a promise to find each other again. Fast forward to high school — they're reunited, but Momoko has completely forgotten any of it. Shinobu hasn't. That gap between one person holding onto a memory and the other having moved on entirely is where this 3-episode OVA lives. Shinobu is the charismatic delinquent type with a string of admirers, while Momoko is buttoned-up, disciplinary committee, very much not interested in Shinobu's flirting. Their dynamic has real tension to it — not the manufactured kind, but the kind that comes from two people who want fundamentally different things, at least on the surface. The all-girls school setting gives it room to breathe as a yuri story without constantly justifying itself, which is refreshing. The soundtrack leans on classical pieces, which gives the drama a slightly theatrical weight that works better than you'd expect. If you've watched Sasaki and Miyano and wanted something older and more overtly romantic, this scratches a similar itch around the push-pull between two mismatched people. Fans of Girls Love stories with some genuine emotional stakes rather than pure wish fulfillment will find more to hold onto here than the short runtime suggests. It's a compact story — don't go in expecting a slow burn across dozens of episodes. Three episodes, one central relationship, and a childhood promise that refuses to stay buried.
