Shinbi's Haunted House: One More Summon
Oshimeter
Synopsis
The Koo siblings — Hari and Doori — spent their childhood in a haunted apartment building, hunting ghosts with the help of Shinbi, a 102-year-old goblin living in the basement. That was ten years ago. Now they're adults, and this movie catches up with them for one more round. Shinbi's Haunted House: One More Summon is a theatrical film celebrating the franchise's 10th anniversary, and it leans hard into the thing fans actually want — seeing these kids all grown up, dealing with supernatural trouble they thought they'd left behind. The twist this time is that the threat goes global. Goblins from different countries show up, each dressed in their traditional cultural attire, which expands the world in a way the original series never really got to. It's a neat touch that gives the movie its own identity rather than just being a nostalgia lap. The tone walks a line between looking back fondly and pushing forward, which works well for a franchise that's aged alongside its audience. If you grew up with Yokai Watch or GeGeGe no Kitaro and liked that blend of spooky-but-fun supernatural storytelling aimed at younger viewers, this hits a similar frequency. There's also a Ghost Hunt-like quality to the reunion aspect — characters returning to face things they thought were behind them. It's a single movie, so the commitment is low, and if you have any history with the Shinbi Apartment series, this is basically made for you.
