📖 SYNOPSIS

"Ryoukan-san" is an animated motion picture set in 18th-century Japan, during the Edo Period, that tells the story of Ryoukan, a renowned Buddhist monk and poet. Born into a wealthy family, Ryoukan chooses to forsake a life of privilege to pursue a deeper understanding of life through Buddhist teachings. He embarks on rigorous training, embracing a solitary and meager existence. Throughout his journey, Ryoukan remains remarkably modest and humble, demonstrating a true humanitarian spirit by accepting all individuals. He finds solace and true peace in nature and cherishes his time with children. His pure mind and amiable nature have left a lasting impact, and his teachings continue to inspire. The film explores themes of simplicity, the rejection of materialism, and the pursuit of inner peace.
