Ryokuin no Kanmuri
Oshimeter
Synopsis
Working quietly as a magazine reporter, Kokoro is a vampire who has never once attacked a human. Toramatsu is a police officer, a solid guy, and her boyfriend of one year. They're actually talking about marriage. Then bodies start turning up around town — drained of blood — and suddenly their relationship has a very specific kind of tension to navigate. Neither of them knows the other's full story yet, and watching that unravel is a big part of the appeal. It's a slow-burn supernatural romance with a murder mystery running underneath it, and the two genres feed into each other in a way that keeps things moving. The vibe is grounded rather than flashy — this isn't sweeping gothic drama, it's two people with secrets trying to figure out if they can actually build a life together while a killer is loose and suspicion could fall on either of them. If you liked the quiet dread of Shiki or the romantic tension in Vampire Knight but wanted something with a more everyday, slice-of-life texture, this scratches a similar itch. Worth noting: this is a live-action Japanese drama, not an anime, so adjust expectations accordingly. But if you're open to that format and enjoy supernatural romance that leans into mystery rather than action, it's worth checking out.
