bluethornrated Rozen Maiden Episode 3 - Suigintou
We begin this episode in a domestic setting, with the dolls interacting in the house, behaving like somewhat spoiled children. Hinaichigo wants to eat something she doesn't know the name of, and both Jun and Nori try to figure out what it is. I like how Jun's trauma was handled, and how, despite him being quite unlikeable as a character, we're later given scenes that help us better understand that he's deeply damaged inside but is making efforts to improve. Later in the episode, we meet a new, hostile doll, a more serious threat than Hinaichigo ever was, whose relationship with Shinku seems profound. Another thing I liked about the episode is how it addresses Tomoe and Hinaichigo's separation. It initially seemed insignificant, but later we see that the separation affected them both; after all, they shared a bond of friendship. I appreciate that this story explored that aspect.
