Round Trip

"Round Trip" is a 2021 animation project created by a student at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Graduate School of Film and New Media, Department of Animation. The core concept revolves around "kaibun," a Japanese term for palindromes. These are words or phrases that read the same forwards and backwards. The animation explores the inherent playfulness and poetic nature of "kaibun," highlighting how their meaning can subtly change, or remain unchanged, depending on the direction they are read. The work aims to bring this unique linguistic concept to life through the medium of animation.
