📖 SYNOPSIS
Right before his eyes, Ye Beichen's entire family gets slaughtered, and he ends up tossed into a moat like trash, barely alive. His senior sister pulls him out and drags him to Kunlun Mountain, where he proceeds to train under not one, not ten, but 99 different martial arts masters for five years straight. Now he's heading back down the mountain, and the people who destroyed his family have no idea what's coming.
This ONA from studio Qingkong Qian Li is adapted from a web novel, and it leans hard into the traditional Chinese fantasy setting — cultivation techniques, ancient mountain sects, powerful factions jockeying for control in the mortal world. The appeal here is watching someone who's been forged into an absolute weapon navigate a world full of enemies who still think he's dead. There's a satisfaction to the revenge setup when the power gap is this absurd, and the martial arts choreography gives it real weight rather than just flashy nonsense.
The tone is intense and doesn't waste much time — Ye Beichen's not brooding in a corner, he's systematically dismantling the people responsible. If you liked the power fantasy and cultivation elements in A Will Eternal or the martial arts depth of Thousand Autumns, this scratches a similar itch. Fans of The Unparalleled Black & White will also find familiar ground in the blend of action and traditional Chinese fantasy worldbuilding. It's straightforward revenge done with style.
