Renegade Immortal
Oshimeter
Synopsis
A bright kid from a poor family, Wang Lin gets his shot at joining the world of cultivators — people who train their bodies and spirits to chase literal immortality. The catch? He has basically no talent for it. In a world where innate ability determines everything, Wang Lin is bottom of the barrel, and everyone around him knows it. This ONA from BUILD DREAM, adapted from a popular web novel, follows him as he refuses to accept that verdict and starts clawing his way up through sheer stubbornness and cleverness. The cultivation system here is genuinely detailed — not just "power up, fight stronger guy, repeat." There are layers to the spiritual growth, the sect politics, and the cost of pursuing power when the world isn't built for you to succeed. The historical fantasy setting has real texture to it, with ancient martial arts traditions and mystical hierarchies that feel lived-in rather than decorative. The vibe is gritty perseverance. Wang Lin isn't a chosen one. He's an underdog in the truest sense, and the story doesn't rush to fix that for him. If you liked the dark cultivation atmosphere of Mo Dao Zu Shi or the mythological depth of Hoshin Engi, this scratches a similar itch but leans harder into the lone-wolf struggle. Fans of Binghe Xijian Lu will also find familiar ground in the "earn every inch of progress" approach. It's a slow burn that rewards patience.
